Design Criteria and Standard Detail Drawings
Please see our Engineering Design Criteria and Standard Drawings for guidelines on land development and capital horizontal infrastructure projects. They help to ensure uniform design in our community. We may consider innovative technological changes that improve or maintain the quality of the design at our discretion.
Development Charges
Development charges are required with issued building permits for new residential, industrial, commercial and institutional buildings. The charges ensure that capital costs to service new development are covered. They support roads, fire services, public works and fleet, administration, libraries and parks and recreation in our community. Please see the Development Charge Brochure for a summary of our Development Charge Policy.

Note that the Region of Durham and relevant school boards also collect Development Charges.
Please see the Development Charges Background Study to learn more about the basis and background of our development charges and how they help us to meet the needs of future development.
